I’m all about self-care, and there is one beauty product I discovered in recent months that is SO much fun to use, that I have become obsessed. I feel like I’m late to the party, because everyone loves the Fitglow Beauty Lip Serums already. I staved off on trying them for a really long time because of the price tag, but of course, now that I’ve given these a whirl, I can’t stay away! I’ve been looking for a dupe for a long time so I stop spending money on lip gloss that’s expensive as hell.
What I’m really looking for is something that is healing to my lips and actually repairs them with wear, has a ton of hydration, and can be worn any time of the day or night. I bought the Smashbox Mindful 5 Nourishing Lip Oil on a whim, when I was desperately trying to find a lower priced dupe for the Fitglow. I noticed that it had five main ingredients: hemp seed oil, chamomile, jojoba oil, sunflower oil, and apricot oil. The benefits listed are also amazing: moisturizing, visually plumping, softening, prepping, and conditioning lips. A lot of the callouts led me to think this might be capable of holy grail status.
And just so you know what I love so much about the Fitglow, I’m obsessed with the feel of the plant-based gloss serum on my lips. It’s slightly plumping, and I swear it actually mends my lips while it prevents them from being dry. Seriously, that’s a claim of theirs; the antioxidants improve lip cell structure and health. Think how your lips feel after wearing matte lipstick. If you wear this to bed at night, your lips will be in perfect shape and full and soft rather than dry and peeling. If that wasn’t enough Fitglow is also organic, cruelty free, and gluten free, plus doesn’t use any gross ingredients. These lipglosses score a 0 on the Think Dirty App, if you’re keeping track of all things green. It’s a cult favorite and people who love all things organic as well as people who don’t keep a tally of that sort of thing… ALL agree that these are phenomenal.
I put a tube in my Sephora shopping bag and prayed. Surely an $18 dupe was possible for a replacement dupe of my favorite $42 lip gloss (ahem, $48 for the night time version)? I honestly feel ashamed writing in print that I spent that much money on a damn lip gloss. Ya girl’s got problems (but dry lips are not one of them).
Anyway, you can guess how this story ends. It wasn’t a dupe. It was an utter fail. Immediately upon application, it did have the same buttery smooth texture if I swiped it on several times in a row. But the Smashbox tube is way smaller, there is no delicious scent, and the effect doesn’t last the long. The overnight healing powers are non-existent with the cheap-o version, and using it is not the lovely experience I was hoping for.
The moral of the story is that there is no comparison to Fitglow Beauty Lip Serums, though I will continue to google that search term in case someone else comes out with something I love as much. I won’t hold my breath. Yes, they really are that great.
I will say, I’m not completely insane, so I hold out on buying these until they are offered in a sale set. They frequently come out with duo sets, and I always use a coupon. They almost always have a 15% off coupon located on the header of their website. So, wait for a bundle and do your thang. They also take Afterpay, so you can split up your payments almost like a no interest credit card, which definitely makes it sting a little less. You won’t regret it.

I’ll review my favorite colors soon! If you’ve tried these I’d love to hear what you think. I’m low key obsessed. If you’re looking for more post on lippies, I also LOVE these Lucky Chick Cosmetics Creamy Matte Lipsticks I reviewed a while back!
Leave me a comment and let me know if you’d ever dream of spending this much money on lip gloss. I’d love to know your favorite too!
